Originally published in 1981, this BTO Guide by Nick Riddiford and Peter Findley presents data from nine bird observatories around the UK, illustrating the arrival and departure periods of our summer migrants.
The guide covers 39 species, each with at least five years worth of observational data available and with some benefitting from 10–15 years of data. Accompanying each histogram is a page of text which outlines and discusses the pattern displayed.
The text is mainly confined to a discussion of the observatories' data, but outside references have been used where these throw light on the patterns illustrated.
